Vacheron Constantin has just announced the opening of Club 1755, a private space located on Old Bond Street, London. The ‘experimental space’ invites watch aficionados to enjoy a curated wine, spirit or cigar while engaging in conversation with like-minded individuals. Moreover, the space will include temporary installations, paying tribute to British art and culture.

In 1755, Jean-Marc Vacheron engaged his first apprentice and, in that moment, founded what has since become one of the most prestigious names in watchmaking. Today, ‘Vacheron Constantin is the world’s oldest watch Manufacture in continuous production..’ This commercial longevity can be attributed to the Geneva-based firm fusing watchmaking know-how with peerless finishing, while also embracing artisanal crafts.
Vacheron Constantin – Haute Horlogerie
During its lengthy reign sitting in the most rarefied heights of Haute Horlogerie, the Maison has witnessed many political, economic, sociological and technical changes, but has continued to prosper, crafting watches for the great and the good. Creators and purveyors of excellence, Vacheron Constantin, a name familiar to the cognoscenti, has amassed legions of brand devotees and owners over many years.
Vacheron Constantin Club 1755 – location
Now, Vacheron Constantin has created a ‘private space’ in Old Bond Street, London where like-minded souls can meet and share their passion for the Geneva-based marque while momentarily escaping the hubbub of city life. Named ‘Club 1755’, a reference to the year the Maison was established, the ‘experimental space’, covering 200m², is appointed with welcoming armchairs, plush carpets and tables dressed with a combination of books and flowers.
The Mansard windows, punctuating the building’s sloping roof, drink in light, imbuing the space with a sense of freshness and optimism. Framing these windows are sloping interior walls bedecked in cerulean blue, introducing a delightful play with geometric forms and tonal contrast. Moreover, Vacheron Constantin has created additional lounge areas, dressed in different colours, textures and styles, providing guests with alternative relaxation spaces to enjoy.

Beyond the confines of the sumptuously appointed interior, a sun terrace promises breathtaking views of Mayfair and proves the perfect place to enjoy a Cuban cigar. And, always attentive to its clients’ needs, Vacheron Constantin offers some of Havana’s finest, personally selected by Master of cigars, Eddie Sahakian of Davidoff St James’s.
Walking past the aptly named ‘Watchmaker universe’, horophiles can sit down and enjoy one of several curated wines and rarefied house spirits from Berry Bros & Rudd, the world’s oldest wine and spirit merchant.
Continuing with the curated theme, Vacheron Constantin has handpicked objects that ‘celebrate UK and Irish craft’. For example, visitors will see bespoke Backgammon boards from Alexandra Llewellyn.
Vacheron Constantin Club 1755 – Nick Hornby
However, the pièce de résistance of Club 1755 is the ‘Geometry of Time’ exhibtion. Comprising seven art pieces, created by acclaimed British artist Nick Hornby, the exhibition depicts the ‘interaction of art and horology’,
The interior decor of Club 1755 complements Hornby’s work. The exposed wooden beams spanning the ceilings of some of the lounges continue downwards, hugging the walls, almost framing the various sculptures on display.
