Chopard Alpine Eagle collection – introduction

Inspired by Chopard’s St Moritz collection from the 80s, the Alpine Eagle has, in just six years, established itself as one of the must-have luxury sports watches of the modern era. While some collections evolve through dramatic reinvention, Chopard’s development of the Alpine Eagle has taken an approach that echoes the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen, where the pursuit of continuous improvement is always front and centre. Whilst Chopard makes no mention of Kaizen in its press materials, the Alpine Eagle collection certainly embodies its principles, with each new release providing more customer choice and delivering advancement. In recent years, the Swiss company has launched ultra-high frequency movements, alternative case materials, new sizes, gem-set models and even a flying tourbillon, all ensuring the Alpine Eagle remains at the forefront of the sports watch category.

A notable characteristic of many Alpine Eagle models is their unusual embossed dials. Inspired by an eagle’s iris, the richly textured dial surface has been executed in a variety of colours. These hues replicate the colour palette of the Alps with its glaciers, mountain rocks, pitch-black night skies and forests rich with green pine trees. For 2026, Chopard has released a new Alpine Eagle with perhaps the most beautiful dial in the collection’s history. Once again, the brand turns to the colour green; however, in contrast with the 2022 darker ‘Pine Green’ edition, the Maison has taken inspiration from the rich flora which covers the wooded paths which snake through the Alps.

Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 AM – dial

Chopard’s Co-President, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, has an immense passion for the Alps and was instrumental in launching the Alpine Eagle foundation back in 2019, coinciding with the launch of the inaugural Alpine Eagle models. The charity supports projects dedicated to conserving the biodiversity and fragile ecosystem of the region, honouring its eponymous apex predator. As previously stated, most Alpine Eagle dials imitate the iris of the magnificent raptor’s eye with its deep swirling texture. For the Alpine Eagle 41 AM, Chopard’s designers have chosen a light green hue.

In recent years, green has become a popular choice among watch buyers, yet in this instance, Chopard has managed to create something very distinctive that stands out from the crowd. The colour feels alive, reminiscent of alpine meadows illuminated by early morning sunlight or the new growth that emerges after winter’s retreat. The familiar eagle-iris texture catches the light with effortless subtlety, with the shade continuously shifting between soft olive tones and brighter flashes of pistachio. The colour has a welcome subtlety and proves a refreshing alternative to the conventional blue or silver hues and yet it remains sufficiently understated to complement most clothing.

The rhodium-plated hour and minute hands are generously coated with Grade X1 Super-LumiNova, matching the hour markers, while the slender black PVD-coated second hand is finished with the familiar eagle feather counterweight. The dial is fringed with a flange marked with a minute track and a colour-matched date disc is revealed via an aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock.

Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 AM – case

The spectacular dial is framed by Chopard’s distinctive Alpine Eagle case, executed in Lucent Steel. In recent years, sustainability has become an increasingly important consideration throughout the watch industry and Chopard has led the way in this regard. Lucent Steel, a proprietary metal, is produced using an exceptionally high level of recycled material (80%) and, with its hypoallergenic properties, it is similar to surgical steel. Furthermore, its enhanced hardness makes Lucent Steel significantly more resistant to scratches than conventional stainless steel, helping the watch remain unscathed from daily life, ensuring it retains its showroom-fresh appearance for longer. Equally impressive is its remarkable lustre.

The case is primarily satin brushed but is tastefully complemented by a highly polished crown guard and various chamfers, reflecting light with an intensity that immediately catches the eye. The brushing on the bezel is punctuated by eight highly polished index screws. Their consistent orientation may seem a small detail, but it reveals Chopard’s obsession with precision. The result is an ordered, almost architectural appearance that quietly satisfies the eye.

Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 AM – movement

The sapphire caseback provides an unobstructed view of the COSC-certified 31-jewel, self-winding movement. The decoration strikes an appealing balance between restraint and refinement. Beating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), the Chopard C 01.01-C will run autonomously for 60 hours when fully wound.

The most significant technical advancement, however, lies within the regulating organ, which incorporates a newly developed antimagnetic hairspring, addressing one of the most common threats to horological precision. Today, magnetic fields are almost impossible to avoid, with so many appliances generating forces capable of affecting a conventional hairspring. When magnetised, the delicate coils of a traditional hairspring can partially adhere to one another, effectively shortening the spring and causing the balance to oscillate at an incorrect rate. The resultant gains in time can leave an otherwise perfectly healthy watch running several minutes fast each day. Demagnetisation is usually straightforward for accomplished watchmakers, but preventing the problem altogether is considerably more satisfying. The 41 AM’s hairspring is made with a new alloy equipped to withstand magnetic fields of up to 2000 gauss, thereby significantly increasing accuracy. A discreet crossed‑out magnet symbol resides at 6 o’clock, reminding the wearer of its enhanced specification.

Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 AM – bracelet

Chopard has added another refinement to this latest Lucent Steel bracelet. The Swiss Maison has equipped the clasp with a newly developed integrated micro-adjustment system allowing the wearer to fine-tune the wrist fit. This feature proves especially useful in warmer weather when wrists swell and skin can feel clammy.

The integrated bracelet complements the case perfectly; each ingot-shaped link has fine brushwork and features a highly polished raised central cap. The sports styling and bold links confer a masculine appearance and, courtesy of the Lucent Steel’s brilliance and design, the bracelet is one of the most attractive examples in the luxury sports watch category.

Closing remarks

The Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 AM demonstrates that continuous improvement need not be dramatic to be impactful. Through thoughtful evolution, Chopard has produced a watch that feels both familiar yet refreshingly new. The pale Moss Green dial widens the appeal of the collection and captures the natural beauty and tranquillity of the Alpine landscape.

Consistent with the philosophy of Kaizen, excellence is achieved through countless carefully considered refinements that deliver incremental advancement rather than radical change. Each enhancement strengthens an already accomplished design, reinforcing the Alpine Eagle’s position as one of the finest integrated luxury sports watches available today.

Beautifully made, technically excellent and inspired by one of the world’s most extraordinary natural landscapes, the Moss Green edition is yet another compelling chapter in a collection that continues to soar.
