Breguet Tradition Collection 2026 Watch News
Since 2005, the Breguet Tradition Collection has captivated watch aficionados with its intricate mechanisms, showcased front of house. Over the years, the collection has evolved, always respecting the brand’s heritage while also introducing elements that further heighten desirability. Recently, Breguet has combined classical elements, such as grand feu enamel, with contemporary touches, including blue ALD-treated bridges and modern, highly wearable rubber and calfskin straps. Nina Scally provides an overview of the Breguet Tradition Collection 2026.

Breguet Tradition depuis 2005
The more I consider the intricacies of classic motoring and haute horlogerie, the more interconnected their souls appear to be. Both seem to require a specific type of stewardship. Consider the bonnet of a vintage Jaguar E-Type. To most, the engine bay is an intimidating labyrinth of metal and hoses. Yet to the dedicated restorer, the feel of the cold steel and the rhythmic sound of a whistling carburettor are akin to the tactility and mechanical poetry of a well-made watch movement. It was this philosophy that resulted in the launch of the original Breguet Tradition collection in 2005 under the direction of Nicholas G. Hayek.

Breguet Tradition Collection 2026 – inverted movements
Heavily inspired by Abraham-Louis Breguet’s late 18th-century souscription (subscription) and tact (tactile) watches, the Tradition collection took the look of the manufacturer’s historic calibres, with their symmetrical central-barrel architecture, and inverted it, bringing the bridges, the gear train and the iconic pare-chute anti-shock device to the dial side. The visuals instantly transported the wearer to the watchmaker’s bench, witnessing the engine in all its complexity and beauty as if through the eyes of the genius himself. As Breguet reaffirms with the release of four new 2026 references, the Tradition collection is an opportunity to satisfy and educate the curious intellect, as well as providing the discerning enthusiast with a banquet of visually appealing, open-worked mechanics to feast upon.

Although Breguet has chosen not to alter anything about the fundamental architecture of the Tradition watch, considerable effort has been made to enhance the visual relationship between texture and light. Vivid grand feu enamel dials have made an appearance, while a definitive return to elegant Arabic numerals and the unexpected inclusion of a textured rubber strap have imbued these new Breguet Tradition Collection 2026 references with a refreshing note of modernity.

Breguet Tradition Seconde Rétrograde 7037
For the devoted Breguetiste, the departure of the 7027 (released in 2005) and its larger 40 mm sibling, the 7057, marked the end of a significant chapter. These were, after all, the cornerstones of the Tradition collection. However, as one door closes, another opens, and the new Tradition Seconde Rétrograde 7037 steps into its place. While some may miss the daily ritual of a manual-wind (the 7027), Breguet adopts a more practical self-winding engine. The automatic Calibre 505 SR sits inside a compact 38 mm case, complete with a fluted caseband, welded straight lugs and a depth of 12.7 mm. Where the 7037BB reference presents itself in a lustrous 18-carat white gold case with an exposed calibre dressed entirely in deeply saturated blue ALD tones, the 7037PT serves as its somewhat more brooding platinum counterpart, framing a movement executed in rich black. In addition to a shotblasted mainplate, offset by shimmering satin-brushed bridges, the main timekeeping display, positioned off-centre at 12 o’clock, is executed in either crisp white (7037BB) or black grand feu enamel (7037PT), both adorned with Breguet Arabic numerals. At 10 o’clock, a sweeping retrograde seconds display completes the layout. The timepiece is presented on a rubber strap, matching the hue of the mainplate (blue or black).

Breguet Tradition Seconde Rétrograde 7097
Breguet has also unveiled a warmer, softer and more elegant take on the Tradition Seconde Retrograde. The new Tradition Seconde Rétrograde 7097 is crafted from 18ct rose gold and bears the Calibre 505 SR in charcoal grey with a beautiful rose gold balance rim and gear train. The semi-circular segment for the retrograde seconds display is satin-brushed and finely sandblasted in gold, no longer overlapping the new Arabic numeral grand feu enamel main dial in quite the same way as it once did. Visible through the exhibition caseback, the movement, with its traditional cadence of 3 Hz, will run autonomously for 50 hours. The Breguet-engraved oscillating weight evokes thoughts of the great man’s first perpétuelle watch with its unusually shaped mass. Indeed, the final flourish, the Breguet Tradition Seconde Rétrograde 7097, is supplied on a charcoal grey calfskin strap paired with an 18ct rose gold Ardillon buckle; a double act that proves both contemporary and harmonious.

Breguet Tradition GMT 7067
If I were to single out a highlight piece from the new Tradition lineup, it would be the Tradition GMT 7067. Housed in an eminently wearable 40 mm platinum case, this timepiece combines a dual-time display with a stunning green-gradient grand feu enamel dial, located at 12 o’clock. This artistic canvas transitions from a vibrant pine green at its centre to an inky black as it nears the perimeter of the dial.

Grand feu enamelling is a technique of immense technical complexity, drawing on years of amassed know-how, and is a métier of the Maison. On this occasion, Breguet pays tribute to the bespoke ‘Ottoman watches’ that Abraham-Louis Breguet once created for his Middle Eastern clientele in the early 1800s, offering the display in a choice of Arabic or Eastern Arabic numerals. The inclusion of a dual-time complication is the ultimate horological indulgence for the global traveller and, when rendered in this verdant green enamel, perfectly captures the essence of lush, sun-drenched landscapes. Once again, Breguet swaps Roman numerals for Arabic numerals, pairing the Calibre 507DRF’s ruthenium-toned coating with beautiful silver-toned plated wheels and a black hand-guilloché snailed barrel cover to match a black GMT sub-dial at 7 o’clock.
Breguet Tradition Seconde Rétrograde 7038
While the new ladies’ version of the Tradition Seconde Rétrograde remains a compact 37 mm, it makes a big impression wherever it goes. The diamond-encrusted bezel, set with 58 stones, is combined with an 18ct white gold case. The resultant look is intended to stir emotions, while endowing the Tradition with a degree of modernity. Its mix of precious metal and matte finishes tends to dissolve and reflect light in tandem. The matte black coating of the Calibre 505SR is understated and negates any distracting glare from the bridges and the mainplate. Meanwhile, the off-centre dial, evocative of the cosmos, features a black aventurine glass surface with tiny flecks that evoke a star-studded night sky. The Arabic numerals, silver-toned and powdered, appear to float within the glass, while the barrel cover and mainplate of the movement are finished in a sunburst guilloché. It seems Breguet’s commitment to artisanal excellence remains absolute, even in the hidden corners of the movement, but especially in details like the black satin-finish fabric strap, secured by a white gold pin buckle and set with a further 25 diamonds.

Closing thoughts
The Tradition collection has become somewhat of a fertile landscape for Breguet to experiment and innovate within a format cherished by the cognoscenti. Abraham-Louis Breguet will forever be remembered for classical souscription and tact watches, ticking creations that have influenced the styling of the Tradition collection. With the introduction of inky-black engine-turned components, lustrous Grand Feu enamel dials and shimmering aventurine glass, these latest models may seem a radical departure from what has gone before; however, they remain instantly recognisable as Breguet. Moreover, with the introduction of new avant-garde touches, the luxury marque keeps the collection relevant and in a perpetual state of reinvention.
