F.P.Journe Young Talent Competition 2022
The F.P.Journe Young Talent Competition 2022 is the latest edition of the annual watchmaking competition where applicants vie for a grant and worldwide recognition of their horological prowess.

Born in 1957, in the sun-kissed city of Marseille, François-Paul Journe moved to Paris where he spent time with his uncle, an accomplished clock restorer and repairer. He attended watchmaking schools in Marseille and subsequently Paris. Today, Monsieur Journe is feted by watch aficionados around the globe.
However, despite the extraordinary esteem in which he is held, Monsieur Journe has never forgotten the challenges facing a young, aspiring watchmaker. He launched the first F.P. Journe Young Talent Competition in 2015, working in close collaboration with high-end watch retailer, The Hour Glass, a company widely known in the Asia Pacific region.
Applicants must be over 18 and less than 30. They can be a watchmaking apprentice, have already graduated or even be self-taught. In addition, applicants must have independently designed and created a timepiece or a ‘technical construction’. Former participants in previous editions of the F.P.Journe Young Talent Competition are, assuming they did not previously win, allowed to submit a new creation.
Entrants are judged by an array of experts who give due consideration to the submission against several specified criteria. Ultimately, the winner will receive a grant of CHF 20,000 from The Hour Glass and F.P.Journe to purchase watchmaking tools or to finance a horological project. Moreover, the successful applicant can look forward to free publicity from the world’s press and a diploma signed by Monsieur Journe and other distinguished members of the jury.

How to participate?
- Applicants must be over 18 and less than 30
- Be watchmaking apprentice or have already graduated
- Self-taught applicants are also welcome
- Applicants must have independently designed and created a timepiece and/or technical construction
- Applicants meeting the previous requirements and who participated in previous editions but did not win, are allowed to submit a new creation (one creation per year)
The winners will be rated using 4 criteria:
- Most original concept
- Highest technical complexity
- Most beautiful design and elaborate finishing
- Quality of craftsmanship
What to submit?
- Fill-in the participation form in clicking on the SUBMIT button below
- Submit pictures of the timepiece or technical construction
- Include a detailed description, the technical characteristics and dimensions of the timepiece or technical construction

- 10.03.2022 Selection of the winner by a distinguished panel of horological judges
- 05.04.2022 Communication of results to the winner
- 29.04.2022 Presentation of the winner at a press conference in Geneva

The winner of the Young Talent Competition will enjoy the following:
