Whether you are a dapper chap or a devotee of couture, there’s always something for stylish acquisitive types. Recently, at LVMH Watch Week 2025, TAG Heuer got ahead of the curve, unveiling two pastel-themed references well before everyone turns their attention to the catwalks of Geneva.
Since it was launched in 1963, the name ‘Carrera‘ has become a byword for legibility and is now synonymous with Swiss precision engineering. The inaugural model, the legendary reference 2447, was a tri-compax chronograph, although since the early 2000s, the brand has also offered three hand references. Over the years, the Swiss marque has embraced different colourways, offered various case sizes and added alternative indications such as a day/date or GMT function.
Now, the TAG Heuer Carrera Date 36 mm has been given a ‘glow-up’ with a choice of two pastel shades, powdery pink or lilac, further enlivened with diamond-set indexes. Perpetuating the Carrera’s reputation for delivering supreme readability, the dial indicates the hours, minutes, seconds and date, free of ambiguity.
As previously mentioned, the indexes are set with a diamond, save for 6 o’clock where the date indication resides. Positioned adjacent to the indexes, small rectangular slivers of SLN aid read-off in restricted light. The hour and minute hands are also generously lined with luminescent material.
Closer examination of the TAG Heuer Carrera 36 mm Pastel Shades reveals several nuanced details. For example, the dial epidermis is enriched with a sunray motif with a twist, literally. Indeed, rather than the customary straight rays from the fulcrum of the dial, the motif is snailed appearing like numerous arcs, arranged in series. Moreover, the brand’s shield-shaped logo projects from the dial surface, adding depth to the display. Lastly, upholding Carrera tradition for minimising dial clutter, the minute track resides on the flange, ensuring the dial remains clean.

Beyond the dial, the steel case embraces fine brushed and polished surfaces, proffering contrast. TAG Heuer could have saved a few Swiss Francs by opting for just one form of surface embellishment, but it has chosen to expend a bit more time and effort. It is an approach that also extends to the H-shaped steel bracelet with the resultant appearance exuding sophistication.
TAG Heuer Calibre 7 movement
To the rear of the watch, the caseback features a pane of sapphire crystal, granting sight of the Calibre 7 movement. Incorporating an oscillating mass, adorned with Côtes de Genève motif, there’s no need to manually wind the watch providing it’s affixed to the wrist. Furthermore, unlike a quartz watch, this movement doesn’t need a battery to keep the hands going.
