MeisterSinger Perigraph Mellow Yellow Watch Review
The MeisterSinger Perigraph Mellow Yellow urges wearers to take a ‘chill pill’, embrace the sentiments of the famous song, ‘Mellow Yellow’ (1966) and relax. Once again, the brand from Münster has conceived another laidback watch, ideally suited to those individuals who shun the hustle and bustle of modern-day life.
MeisterSinger Watches
When Manfred Brassler, the founder and managing director of MeisterSinger, established his brand he did not adhere to the horological convention of using two hands to impart hours and minutes. Instead, he chose to impart meaning efficiently with just one lone hand. That’s it. Well, not quite, Brassler set aside the watchworld’s obsession with measuring small fractions of a second, preferring to express time in 5-minute steps. His principle was to show time advancing forward but with a slower, more relaxed gait.
MeisterSinger Perigraph Mellow Yellow – jostick-mentality
Now, the watch brand from Münster has reinforced its jostick-mentality with the release of a new model, the MeisterSinger Perigraph Mellow Yellow. On hearing the name of this watch I was reminded of Donovan, the laidback singer who released his famous song ‘Mellow Yellow’ in 1966.
Donovan was a close friend of the Beatles and allegedly ‘Mellow Yellow’ features Sir Paul McCartney on backing vocals. There has been much speculation over the years about the meaning of the song including whether it is making reference to drug-taking. What is certain though, is that the song represented a relaxed mindset. Indeed, when asked about the meaning of ‘Mellow Yellow’, Donavan allegedly said it was about “..being mellow, laid-back, chilled out..”.
MeisterSinger Perigraph Mellow Yellow – single hand watch
If there is one watch brand that is the embodiment of ‘chilled out’, it is MeisterSinger, making its latest model seem eminently logical. In creating the MeisterSinger Perigraph Mellow Yellow, the German marque has revisited its award-winning Perigraph model. The steel blue coloured dial elements have been retained but the date track, chapter ring and strap have all been dressed in a vivid shade of yellow. The appearance of the watch is very different from its older siblings, evincing a conspicuous vibrancy. The legibility remains excellent and its colourway evokes cheerful thoughts and optimism.
Limited to just 200 pieces, the MeisterSinger Perigraph Mellow Yellow is highly original and a worthy addition to the German firm’s portfolio.

A classic and an icon of chronometry
The Perigraph is one of the classic models designed by the single-hand watch specialist MeisterSinger and shows no signs of fatigue, even after 20 years. All the variants designed in recent years have the open date disk in common, giving the dial a clear and convincing structure.
Master of diversity
Creating a broad range of variants over the last few years, MeisterSinger has shown that the Perigraph is a master of diversity. The sophisticated visuals of the dial look compelling in all their variations.
For its 20th anniversary, MeisterSinger is dressing up its icon in a particularly bold manner. You can just tell it’s in the mood to celebrate. And in times of limited social contact, it can be comforting to see someone working in good spirits.

The glass of the exhibition case back proudly reflects the uniqueness of this model since it stated the number of pieces produced: one of 200.
The model will only be available in the 2021 collection.
Mellow yellow
“And when we do something,” says Manfred Brassler, founder and managing director of MeisterSinger, “we do it properly!” The steel-blue dial contrasts so stunningly with the bold yellow hue, you could almost say: “So bad, it’s even really good again!”
