Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Orange

The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Orange is housed in a 42mm steel case. It features an eye-popping orange dial and can be worn on a black rubber strap or an ultra-resilient orange synthetic fabric strap. The model is limited to 250 pieces and is only available in Bell & Ross boutiques and e-boutiques.

Bell & Ross depuis 1992

The story of Bell & Ross began in 1992 when Bruno Belamich and Carlos A. Rosillo formed the brand. Initially, the company conceived overtly robust models intended for professionals working in extreme situations. Indeed, the company’s watches proved popular with astronauts, members of various police forces, racing drivers and bomb-disposal experts.

Bell & Ross BR 01 (2005)

Arguably the most significant landmark in the firm’s history was when it decided to ‘turn a cockpit instrument panel clock into a wristwatch’. The resultant timepiece was the BR 01, a square pilots’ watch, released in 2005. The BR 01 measured 46mm x 46mm, perfectly in tune with the prevailing trend for oversized watches. Its appearance was highly distinctive and certainly, nobody could have ever accused Bell & Ross of plagiarism!

The BR 01 range continues to feature within the brand’s catalogue. However, no doubt aware that an increasing number of clients were looking for a smaller case option, the brand subsequently unveiled the BR 03, a further square watch, but measuring 42mm x 42mm. By reducing the dimensions, the newer range has attracted new audiences and the brand has since released many variants of the smaller model.

Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver (2017)

While the BR 01 and BR 03 were inspired by aeronautical instruments, the firm also released a version of the BR 03 intended for subaquatic use. The BR 03-92 Diver was released in 2017 and was the brand’s first foray into the divers’ watch segment. I still remember wearing the watch for a week-long period of evaluation and it remains one of my favourite Bell & Ross models.

Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Orange – a new colour

Since releasing the BR 03-92 Diver, the luxury firm has gone on to offer several additional versions, embracing different case materials as well as various colours. The latest version, the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Orange, as its name suggests, features an orange dial, a hue synonymous with divers’ watches. I have yet to wear this latest watch, but based on the brand’s images, it certainly looks like an interesting ownership proposition.

Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Orange – the brand’s press release

Bell & Ross – the ultimate reference in the world of professional aviation watches – is constantly striving for excellence. Each watch is designed in harmony with the context in which it operates.

This spirit of innovation and quest for challenges could be seen in the DIVER collection that conquers ocean depths and meets all the requisite specifications of a true diving watch. Bell & Ross has developed measuring tools that are perfectly adapted to the sub-aquatic environment and are the efficient companions of divers under any circumstance.

In 2020, designed specifically for true aficionados of the brand, Bell & Ross has created a special timepiece available only through its boutiques and e-boutiques, the BR 03-92 Diver Orange.

A tribute to the 70s: The Utilitarian Orange

Limited to 250 pieces, this new version of the BR 03-92 DIVER BLACK STEEL will certainly not go unnoticed thanks to its striking dial colour. Taking its inspiration from the professional diving field, the BR 03-92 DIVER ORANGE will plunge you right back into the seventies – a decade when orange dial watches debuted.

While capturing the essence of professional diving watches from that era, the watch features the brand’s iconic square case for a more contemporary look.

Reflecting the visual codes associated with maritime safety, orange was chosen as the colour of this new version of the BR 03-92 DIVER.

Used to set objects apart from their surroundings, orange guarantees optimal time reading. It is the colour of the suits worn by the divers aboard during missions. Visible and essential during sea rescues, it also helps prioritizing essential information when needed.

Beyond its orange dial, this BR 03-92 DIVER ORANGE version aims to achieve maximum legibility, with metal applique indices coated in Super-LumiNova® and skeletonized Super-LumiNova®-filled hands, even in darkness. To further enhance the watch’s readability, the orange painted dial provides a perfect contrast with the white of the time indications and the black of the hands and bezel.

White, black and orange, symbolic colours of Bell & Ross, meet the specific demands of professionals at both day and night and will effectively assist divers under all circumstances

Technical specifications to Swiss standards

This new colour combination, paired with the emblematic square shape of the BR collections, gives the BR 03-92 DIVER ORANGE a sporty yet attractive aesthetic.

Water-resistant to 300 meters and driven by a Swiss self-winding mechanical movement with proven robustness and accuracy, this instrument tool meets the requirements defined by international standard ISO 6425.

With its sophisticated design and uncompromised functionality, the new Bell & Ross diving watch is protected by a stainless-steel case to withstand the rigors of underwater exploration.

Screwed down to withstand the pressure at great depths, the crown of the BR 03-92 Diver is equipped with a guard that guarantees complete protection against impacts and optimal water resistance. The carefully designed crown is also fitted with a rubber insert for improved ergonomics. As a further guarantee of flawless water resistance, the sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating is an impressive 2.85 mm thick, compared to the 1.50 mm on the classic BR 03-92, as well as its reinforced steel case back.

Invisible from the outside, yet crucial for its reliability, the case of the BR 03-92 DIVER ORANGE is also equipped with a soft-iron cage to increase its resistance to magnetic fields.

With ergonomics perfectly designed for underwater use, the iconic Bell & Ross square case is equipped with a 60-minute calibrated uni-directional rotating bezel, whose luminescent dot at 12 o’clock is used to set time references, both on the surface and at depth. The anodized aluminium bezel, designed for professional use, allows immediate calculation of the time spent underwater.

Conclusion

The BR 03-92 DIVER ORANGE comes in a water-resistant professional box and is available with two straps. The first is made from woven black rubber with a steel pin buckle. The second is in ultra-resilient orange synthetic fabric, allowing the watch to be quickly and ergonomically adjusted over the suit thanks to a Velcro closure system, that has been designed for professional underwater use.

Legible, practical, accurate, reliable, and unique in its distinctive square shape, the new BR 03-92 DIVER ORANGE meets the exacting requirements of professionals and reflects the personality of those opting for an everyday use.

This exclusive limited-edition model will delight collectors searching for a truly unique watch. Launched on September 18, 2020. The BR03-92 DIVER ORANGE is exclusively available for purchase in Bell & Ross’ boutiques and on its online platform (www.bellross.com).
