Cardrona Spirits – The Reid Single Malt Vodka
Philip Day continues his series on Cardrona Spirits, looking at The Reid Single Malt Vodka. Philip also provides his tasting notes.
Cardrona Spirits produce a diverse array of products including single malt whisky, gin, vodka and liqueurs.
At Cardrona Distillery, premium barley grains are fermented for over 70 hours to concentrate and express their fullest natural flavour before being distilled in traditional copper pot stills.
It is presented in an iconic Italian glass bottle.

Delicately nuanced with notes of pear drops, lemon, toffee and malt biscuits, weighted and balanced.
Exquisite neat, with water, or mixed into a crafted cocktail.

NOSE: The distinctive aroma of pear drops hits the nose with delicate aromas of a sweet, while slightly sharp fruit note.
A mixture of sweetness with a yeasty note. Petite Beurre biscuits with a gentle hint of vanilla.
PALATE: A dry but smooth, creamy, well rounded mouth feel. Additional citrus and fruity notes are evident. Malty with hints of toffee and butterscotch.
Adding some tonic and a dash of lemon juice creates yet another taste experience. The lemon and quinine tastes of the tonic mixed with the banana and pear flavours of the vodka, create a thoroughly enjoyable, extra tasty vodka and tonic cocktail.
FINISH: A lengthy smooth finish consisting purely of pear drops and butterscotch.
To fully appreciate the character of The Reid Single Malt Vodka, first taste served neat or poured over a single large ice cube. After this, you can explore it as the body of a range of exquisitely refreshing craft cocktails.
