Rosemaund Farm Whisky from Herefordshire
This month, as Netflix launches the second season of ‘The Gentlemen’, Rosemaund Farm Whisky also releases a new single malt, ‘The Director’s Cut’. Guy Ritchie, the famous filmmaker, is a shareholder and creative collaborator of Rosemaund. Philip Day provides details of the latest English single malt, crafted on a family farm in Herefordshire.

Rosemaund Farm Distillery’s third edition, The Director’s Cut, is a 10-year-old English single malt, made with heritage Maris Otter barley and matured on the farm. It is limited to 3,000 bottles but this edition will be the first Rosemaund release that customers will be able to purchase directly without having to enter a ballot.

The rationale for the first two releases being allocated by ballot, reflected their limited out-turns and allowed the distillery to distribute bottles fairly among its earliest customers.
However, the releases revealed something the distillery team had not anticipated: a significant number of customers were choosing to purchase Rosemaund whisky as a gift. This unexpected demand helped to lead to the decision to make The Director’s Cut available through open sale.

Speaking of this decision, Co-Founder of Rosemaund Farm Whisky, James Dashwood Chase, said:
The ballot was the right way to introduce Rosemaund and allocate two very small releases fairly. What surprised us was how many customers were buying the whisky for someone else.
We repeatedly heard from people asking whether we could send them a fresh outer because they wanted to give the bottle as a birthday, anniversary or Christmas present. We had assumed Rosemaund would principally be a whisky people bought for themselves, and we could not have been more wrong.
The Director’s Cut remains deliberately limited, but it should be possible to choose it, purchase it and give it. Our earliest customers will still receive private first access, but from 1st September, people discovering Rosemaund for the first time will be able to buy a bottle directly.”

About The Director’s Cut
Master Blender Tristan Stephenson and the Rosemaund team selected a marriage of ex-bourbon casks, Oloroso sherry casks and a touch of virgin oak for The Director’s Cut,
The bourbon casks preserve Rosemaund’s bright, orchard-led house character, while the Oloroso sherry and virgin oak introduce additional fruit, spice, warmth and complexity without overwhelming the underlying spirit.
The nose opens with baked red apple, orange soda, wild berries and nutmeg. The palate is oily yet fragrant, with a focused core of toasted oak, malt and baking spices, leading to a long finish of white pepper and ripe autumn stone fruit.”
James Dashwood Chase added:
The Director’s Cut feels unmistakably Rosemaund, but it shows a deeper and more autumnal side of the whisky. It remains led by the orchard fruit and malt character at the heart of our spirit, while the sherry and virgin oak bring warmth, spice and depth. It is a whisky made to be opened, poured and shared – which makes the way our customers have been gifting Rosemaund feel particularly appropriate.”
