In 1845, Ferdinand Adolph Lange incentivised with a grant from the Royal Saxon Ministry, opened his inaugural Manufactory in Glashütte. This small town ultimately became the epicentre of German watchmaking. Shortly after World War II, the Manufactory was nationalised and the A. Lange & Söhne name no longer featured on watch dials.
However, in 1990, just after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Walter Lange revived the family business started by his great-grandfather. Four years later, A. Lange & Söhne unveiled its first collection, featuring the Saxonia, the Tourbillon ‘Pour le Mérite’, the Arkade and the Lange 1.
Today, the prestigious marque is synonymous with Haute Horlogerie and its models are highly prized for their technical excellence and peerless finishing.
