Girard-Perregaux Founded in 1791, Girard-Perregaux is synonymous with crafting fine watches and producing exemplars of Haute Horlogerie. Located in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the company is a Manufacture with a rich tradition of making movements for use in its own watches as well as those of third parties.
The company’s name can be traced to 1854 when Constant Girard married Marie Perregaux. In 1860, Constant submitted a pocket watch for chronometer testing and won the Neuchâtel Observatory Centenary Prize. His prowess for making highly-precise pocket watches would see him receive further prizes and plaudits throughout his career.
It was around this time that Constant designed a pocket watch featuring three prominent bridges. In one inspired step, he transformed three functional components into a triumvirate of artistic elements. Today, the Maison’s catalogue includes ‘the Bridges collection’, inspired by Constant’s idea. The company is also synonymous with the Laureato, an iconic sports watch unveiled in 1975, and the groundbreaking Constant Escapement L.M, the winner of the ‘Aiguille D’Or’ at GPHG 2012.
