The Grand Seiko Elegance collection recreates the design language of the inaugural Grand Seiko watch, which was unveiled in 1960. The inaugural timepiece adopted some of the design codes found on the earlier Seiko Marvel (1956) and Seiko Lord Marvel (1958) timepieces. The brand’s objective from the outset was to create an accurate, legible and beautiful watch.
The initial design included facetted Dauphine-style hour and minute hands teamed with slender, diamond-cut indexes. This early GS model was classically styled and some 60 years later shows few signs of ageing. The Grand Seiko Elegance Collection pays homage to the aforementioned 1960 reference with elegantly restrained styling and subtle, refined details.
